1800s Reenactment at Fort Sisseton
Today the women in the fiber arts guild got together for a little dress up and fiber spinning at Fort Sisseton. The fort opened up today and had sleigh rides and crafts for the family and then volunteers dressed up in 1800s attire and reenacted what it would be like in those days. The guild took our spinning wheels and spun yarn ALL DAY LONG. I am pretty tired of spinning to tell you the truth. There were lots of kiddos and they were all so intrigued how the wheels worked and they all had to kno–what are you making with the yarn? It was great. Here are some pics:
Here are the sleigh rides:

Here we are spinning and Marie is making rolags:

And you may remember or have seen in my last post that I was thinking about over dyeing the shawl that I made my sweet mother in law…well I did it. I really like how it came out!

this is how it looked before:

Spinnin’ and Bakin’
I am getting ready to knit the elizabeth zimmerman surprise baby jacket for a friends new baby-http://knitting-gnome.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/sweater-hello-yarn.jpg and I decided to spin the yarn for the project.
I bought a 1 lb of lambswool roving:
and have managed to spin half a bobbin so far..lol…

This fiber is kinda dirty so I will have to give it a good washing when I get it spun up.
And in the spirit of the holidays I decided to bake some neiman marcus cookies and gift them out since the batch makes over 100 cookies…I have to go buy the ingredients and actually make them now.
I Need Suggestions For My Blog
If you are reading this: I would really appreciate any suggestions as to how I can change my blog to generate more views. Any feedback is welcome!
And now on to the knitting bags! I finished this humongous bag–seriously one of the biggest bags I have ever made. I honestly didn’t intend on it being so big! It just turned out that way… but anywho–here it is–oh and those things at the bottom of the bag are my attempt to make flowers out of buttons….
here is the side view:
Sooooo there it is in all its wrinkled glory…I need to iron it!
This bag was incredibly hard to take pics of by myself. Its another knitting bag and I was going for a doctors bag shape:
and here is the side view of this bag:
Whatever doesn’t sell at the craft show I am putting in an etsy shop. And then I will be adding new stuff as I make it. We set up our booth today at 2:30 so I need to put the finishing touches on everything…
This was a jacket from the 60′s that I bought when I was 17. I could never wear the jacket because it was to small but I knew one day I would make it into something else! And here it is–my knitting bag
Well I was going to post lots of pics via links but its not working. I will add on to this later. I need to get started sewing.
Good Weekend
It was a great weekend. I started sewing 2 more bags, got 3 more bags cut out…I will HOPEFULLY have two bags completed by the end of the night. I decided to try my hand at crewel work on one of the bags, so that is taking a while. It is looking quite nice though. I am only asking 35 for these bags and I am putting so much effort into them I am beginning to wonder if its worth it. I think they will sell just based on the functionality of them but I can’t help but dress things up….
Anywho! The fiber art guild meeting was great. I got so much needle felting done on one of the felted hats. I dunno if I plan on doing that to all of the hats or not because it is sooooo tedious. I think I would rather embroider them.
Does anyone have an etsy account that gets good business? I am thinking about selling these bags on etsy…I need to hurry and finish the ones I have so everyone can see them!
